You have questions, we have answers

NewMed is currently creating the curriculum to deliver our postgraduate MD degree, subject to approval by the TEQSA and the AMC, intended for commencement in 2026.

NewMed is not yet a medical school. NewMed is not currently accepting new students.

When will NewMed enrol students?

NewMed will not seek applications from potential students until registration and accreditation by both the Tertiary Qualifications Standards Agency (TEQSA) and the Australian Medical Council (AMC) is complete.

Will there be Commonwealth supported places in the program?

NewMed will not offer places under the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS).

NewMed will be a private medical program with fees.

There will also be some scholarships available.

Will I be able to study in my home location?

Students will be able to study in their local community during the first two or three years of the program. In addition to the technology infused, and academic led blended learning in small groups, there will be three back-to-base, face to face weeks per year, and clinical placements in primary care. In the final year of the program students will need to complete hospital-based clinical rotations.

How much will the program cost?

The NewMed fee schedule will be available after accreditation.
